SURELY THERE’S AN AMERICAN WOMAN LEADER WHO WON’T SUBJECT ME TO SUCH A GOOEY SQUISHY MOTHER-DAUGHTER-MOTHER FOUR HOURS! Is she running for Secretary of Women’s and Children;s Affairs or is she running for President of the United States of America? I wish some of the sweetness and love that gushed from speaker after speaker last night could have rubbed off on Hillary’s personality. Her eyes flashed not with brilliance but with anger. That is, when she wasn’t smiling a girlish self-satisfied smile.
And why does she have to “fight” for this or that program? Can’t she just get the job done without having so much anger ?
I have strong feelings about her inadequacy as my great-aunt was #CarrieChapmanCatt, the woman who at the turn of the last century went from State to State convincing the legislators–all men–that the women deserved to be able to vote. Have you heard of the “bloomer girls”? Under Aunt Carrie’s leadership hundreds of women marched up Fifth Avenue in New

York and other cities. Among other achievements, she founded the #LeagueofWomenVoters.
She achieved the impossible whereas today’s women can’t even get equal pay for equal work. She told me that the secret was to focus on the one most important thing–in her case, the vote–and not try to accomplish other things at the same time. But some years ago when women were burning their bras to establish I don’t know what, a “woman” had to be anti-Viet Nam War, pro-abortion, anti Republican, and wear no bra. Females who didn’t follow this pattern were not considered to be “women.” How stupid. (We still don’t have equal pay except in some cases, such as the Trump corporation employees.)
I have Aunt Carrie’s cookbook; one day maybe I’ll post some of the “Suffragette Recipes.”
Aunt Carrie — how you would have cringed at the inappropriate theme of Hillary’s Convention. Just give me love, love, love, and fire Donald Trump. That’s supposed to be a real leader’s plans for her nomination the Presidency. She would be wiped out in a minute by Angela or Golda or Maggie. Americans must do better in 2020.
